How to Make the Best Black Bean Dip
If you are like me and love bean dips, this recipe is one to try. We also have classic hummus, red pepper hummus and this easy cheesy bean dip for you to look at, too. The secret to this creamy dip is cooked onions. In fact, the recipe starts just as classic onion dip starts. We cook sweet onion in a bit of oil until it is wilted down and tastes sweet. When the onions are cooked, we blend them with spices, sour cream, a bit of water and black beans (you can use canned or home cooked black beans). I’ve used a food processor in the photo below, but a blender will also do the trick. You can serve the dip straight away or spoon it into a baking dish, top with some cheese and bake for a warm and cheesy dip. Most often, we serve this black bean dip with chips or warm pita wedges, but it can also be used a sandwich spread and even as a taco filling. I’ve even spooned it on top of rice for a make-shift rice bowl.
