We had such a wonderful time this past week in Seattle. Thank you to everyone who left recommendations – we went to as many of them as we could!! These are some of our highlights. This is by no means a comprehensive list, just the places we happened to make it to in the short 3 days we were there.

Straight from the airport we had late night sushi at Maneki. Good sashimi & sake (plus it was near our hotel and open until 10:30pm). The next morning we had brunch at Macrina. Jack had a fried egg sandwich with spicy tomato sauce, I had the Salmon egg bialy. The pastries all looked tempting but we were way too full. That night, we had cocktails at Percy’s and dinner outside at Bastille. The weather was perfect and so was their patio. Standout dishes were the niçoise socca and the chanterelle mushrooms. We had no idea, but the most amazing local chanterelle mushrooms are in season in Seattle for a short time in September. You’ll notice we order them at nearly every meal. We couldn’t get enough. The next afternoon we met up with the lovely Jenn of Scout blog at the Fat Hen. And yep, we had more chanterelles – I had the chanterelle benedict, and Jack had the homemade ricotta (& chanterelle) sandwich on perfect soft, crusty baguette. We spent that afternoon walking along the water, appreciating the (not 100 degree) weather. We had dinner at Nishiro. Our favorites were the tuna tartare with ginger salsa and taro chips, and the shiso shrimp dumplings. Next morning: Oddfellows, for coffee, french toast bundt cake, and wifi… afterward we walked through the Melrose Market. Later we had lunch at Pike Place Chowder, which was touristy, but hey, we were tourists. The best meal of our trip was the last – dinner at Walrus and the Carpenter. Loved everything about it from the decor to the cocktails and of course the food. (photo 2 above and photos 3-4 below). A perfect way to end our time in Seattle! I was sad we missed: Bar Sajor, Sitka & Spruce, The Whale Wins, Revel, Delancey, among others. We’ll definitely have to come back…
