Green Papaya Salad Recipe

I’ve been dreaming of making a green papaya salad for a while now… I just don’t see them (the unripe not-sweet green kind) around too often. A few weekends ago Jack and I ventured out to the MT Supermarket, a ridiculously huge asian market that we’d somehow never been to. If you live here in Austin, have you been there? The only way I can describe it is that it’s maybe the Asian grocery equivalent to IKEA....

Grilled Onions Recipe

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to share a recipe for grilled onions! I make them all the time in the summer. They pair well with almost anything, they’re easy and inexpensive, and they just so happen to be delicious, too. If you’ve never had grilled onions, I’m so excited for you to try this recipe. As the onions cook, their natural sugars caramelize on the grill, so they end up with a sweet, umami flavor and irresistible char....

Grilled Ratatouille Tartines Recipe

I love ratatouille – eggplant, zucchini, peppers, and tomatoes all mingling together with flavors of fruity olive oil, thyme, oregano, and fresh basil… But it’s summer and what I don’t love is standing over a hot stove. So I came up with this simple GRILLED version of ratatouille that takes all of about 15 minutes to make. It’s not at all authentic, but I love how the char of the grill flavors these vegetables....

Harissa Spiced Fall Veggie Pitas Recipe

I make a lot of impromptu tacos. We not only have taco Tuesdays around here, but sometimes taco Wednesdays and/or taco Thursdays. When I’m looking for something quick I usually reach for tortillas, no matter what day of the week it might be. I keep them in the freezer, so they’re always ready. Except this particular night – no tortillas, but I had some sprouted pitas. This wasn’t originally going to be a post, but these turned out so pretty and delicious....

Healthy Loaded Vegan Nachos Recipe

It sounds silly to say, but the first vegan “dish” I really fell hard for was nachos. It was years ago at Native Foods where the Native Nachos were a revelation to us. They weren’t a snack, they were our dinner late one night. They were piled high with taco “meat,” black beans, cashew cheese (a crazy concept at the time), salsa, and guacamole… we scarfed them down saying (with our mouths full) “how are these vegan?...

Hurricane S Grill Darling Harbour Sydney Restaurant Review Edible Garden

So, I am in Sydney this week. Although I asked around a fair bit, authentic Australian food is pretty much just steak and burgers and an odd bit of kangaroo meat thrown in here and there. I am not sure if I can try kangaroo meat so me and a 2 colleagues decided to play it safe and try the immensely popular meat and seafood place – Hurricane’s Grill in Darling Harbour, very close to work and our hotel....

Kanchipuram Idli Kanchipuram Idli Recipe Easy South Indian Breakfasts Edible Garden

So what did I do differently in my version of Kanchipuram idli versus the one I tried all those years ago? I spiced my idli batter before fermenting, and I toned down the amount of pepper and cumin, making sure the idli batter flavour can shine through easily. I also had to come to terms with the fact that Kanchipuram idli is a bit on the denser side than a regular idli, that’s all....

Mushrooms Stuffed With Cheese Mushroom Recipes Quick Easy Snacks Edible Garden

I saw this recipe on Pioneer Woman and instantly knew I’ll be making it. I read through the ingredients list and thought they were easy, especially since I had some brie left over after making beetroot salad. Turns out that’s the only ingredient that’s common between her version and mine. She used button mushrooms – I used portobello mushrooms She used parsley and green onions – I used cilantro (coriander leaves) and totally forgot the green onions She used brie – I used very little brie and then some mozarella She didn’t use onions – I did But the bottom line is, this turned out super yummy!...

I love to make this pasta primavera recipe after a trip to the farmers market in early summer. I come home with bags full of produce.
