Hello From France

Hello from France! This past week, I’ve been in the Rhone Valley touring vineyards, tasting wine, taking in amazing views and of course eating great food. I’ll be back later this week with a new recipe, but for now here are some photos from my trip – of course, follow along on Instagram to see more! Au Revoir! Special thanks to Atout France & Air France for sending me & for my new friends at Inter Rhone for taking me around!...

Hemp Seed Kale Pesto Recipe

I freaking love pesto. I make it all the time – usually with any herbs, greens, nuts, or seeds I have around. I like to swirl it into my soups, top it onto my eggs, or dollop it onto big salad-ey grain bowls. While there are one or two (or twelve) pesto recipes on this site already, I really love this version, so I think there’s room for one more....

Matcha 101 What It Is And How To Use It Recipe

A few years ago, matcha started popping up everywhere – in lattes, ice cream, smoothies, icing, and more. While I’ll never say no to a matcha doughnut, today I want to focus on the simplest way to enjoy it: by whisking it into hot water to create a frothy, nourishing tea. I’ve loved drinking matcha this way since Jack and I took our first trip to Japan years ago, and I still make myself a cup almost every morning....

Okra Fry In Air Fryer Kurkuri Bhindi

Table of Contents Ingredients Okra or bhindi – as always, when choosing okra for frying for cooking, choose the most tender ones you can find. A technique used in India is to snap the tail to check but please don’t do this in the supermarket because then the people who come to buy them after you are left with a bunch of tailless okra, and that’s just rude haha. Instead, gently check how firm or flexible they are....

Pacha Manga Chammanthi Raw Mango Chutney Recipe Edible Garden

Chammanthi is a Malayali’s comfort food. Although it can be roughly translated to chutney in English, its not watery like chutney tends to be. Pacha Manga Chammanthi is almost always served with kanji or Indian congee, to balance the blandness but I served it with fresh, hot dosas! Pacha Manga Chammanthi Serves 4 Ingredients: 1/2 of a raw mango or about 1/2 cup peeled and chopped raw mango 3/4 cup grated coconut 3 green chillies A small piece of ginger 1 shallot 2-3 curry leaves, optional Salt to taste How to Make Raw Mango Chutney:...

Parmesan Lemon Roasted Cauliflower

We’re hooked on roasted cauliflower. It’s sweet, nutty and so easy to make. Perfect as a side, for topping pastas or eaten as a snack. We’re even thinking that it might convert a few anti-cauliflower cooks out there. (Fingers crossed). How to Roast Cauliflower in the Oven Roasting is one of our favorite ways to cook cauliflower — in fact, we love this method so much that we’ve used it to make spicy roasted cauliflower, buffalo roasted cauliflower wings, and a Thai curry roasted cauliflower....

Parmigiano Fig Grilled Cheese Recipe

A few weeks ago Whole Foods set out to break the Guinness World Record of number of Parmigiano Reggiano wheels cracked simultaneously. Jack and I were the “official” witnesses of Parmageddon at our Austin store. I know what you might be thinking… how does the lactose intolerant girl get herself into these things? Well, first of all, Jack will not ever turn down an opportunity for free cheese. And second, in recent years I’ve learned that hard cheeses don’t have very much lactose, and that I don’t have as much of a problem with really high quality cheese....

Perfect Sauteed Kale Recipe

Some people shy away from kale, but with my easy recipe, you’ll be craving it again and again. Thanks to my easy method, the kale is super tender and sweet. I use a similar method when making my sautéed spinach recipe. The trick is to use a little broth in the skillet to encourage the kale to wilt and turn tender. Key Ingredients Kale: You can use any type, but I love lacinato kale (also known as dinosaur kale) for its dark green color and flat leaves....

Portobello Mushroom Dogs Recipe

We’re all familiar with the ubiquitous portobello burger, so I’ll be honest: I originally planned to serve these mushrooms in hot dog buns for the novelty of it. For my money, though, portobellos really work better in dog form than in burger-form. They get more fully covered in the tangy, savory marinade, and (because they’re thinner strips) they cook a lot more quickly and more evenly. Portobello Veggie Dog Recipe Ingredients Growing up around Chicago, hot dogs were never taken lightly....

These pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are my favorite kind of baking recipe. They’re sooooo yummy, with a warmly spiced pumpkin flavor and a soft, chewy texture. Rotimatic Review All Your Questions Answered Edible Garden

First things first. How do the rotis made by Rotimatic really taste?PinIf you eat them fresh as they are meant to be eaten, they are very good. I have experimented with a few different flour mixes and they all taste really good when the rotis are fresh off the machine. You can keep them in a casserole but they may tend to get slightly more stretchy or rubbery depending on your water, flour used, room temperature, etc....

Spicy Kohlrabi Noodles Recipe

Oh, kohlrabi… I first learned of this alien vegetable years ago when I received my very first CSA box. At the time, I wasn’t adventurous with vegetables, so I had no clue what it was and no clue what to do with it. Kohlrabi has seemed to gain some popularity since then – I often see it on restaurant menus – but back then it was barely google-able. Fast forward to now – it’s one of my favorites....

Stir Fried Jackfruit Seeds Kerala Style Chakkakuru Mezhukkupuratti Recipe Edible Garden

This whole cycle of sharing and giving and receiving was so interwoven that amma actually knows whose jackfruit tree produces the sweetest fruits and who has the orange-red seedless papaya that’s actually a hybrid plant and whose backyard produces the best ethappazham that calls for making nothing but ethakka appam with it. Sun Dried Tomato Pasta With Kale Recipe

Happy December! Today we’re celebrating with this bright red & green sun dried tomato pasta. I have a confession to make. I’m really terrible at decorating for the holidays. Some years it happens, others it doesn’t… and then some years we end up with a Valentine’s Day tree because we lose track of time and the work of taking down decorations is far less fun than putting them up.
