I’m calling this blueberry mojito recipe the perfect summer cocktail! We already love classic mojitos, but in this recipe, we’ll add delicious blueberries to the mix to make it even more summer friendly! Summer cocktails don’t get much prettier than this one. Key Ingredients
Rum: I use white rum to make mojitos because it’s lighter and crisp, and the color shows off what else is in the glass (like the green mint and blueberries). You can use any white rum you enjoy. I’d just skip the overproof rums (like higher-proof 151 and the like). The rum you use doesn’t need to break the bank. A good quality, reasonably priced white rum will do the trick. Blueberries: Use fresh or frozen blueberries to make blueberry mojitos! If you use frozen, thaw them first so you can muddle them with the mint. Blueberries are lovely in this cocktail, but if you have other berries on hand, use them. Raspberries, strawberries, and even blackberries are all amazing. Fresh Mint and Lime: Fresh ingredients make the best mojitos. I muddle my mint and lime juice for the cocktail and then garnish the glass with more mint and a lime slice. To try something a little different, try basil! It’s tasty, muddled into a berry mojito (especially strawberry mojitos). Sugar: I use plain granulated sugar, but you can use simple syrup. Here’s my homemade simple syrup recipe. Club Soda: I love club soda when making cocktails since it has a bit of salt added, which makes the cocktail taste even better. Sparkling water or seltzer water will work, too, but they often don’t have the added salt/minerals.
8 blueberries, plus more for serving 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) fresh lime juice 2 teaspoons sugar 8 fresh mint leaves, plus more for serving 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) club soda Lime slices for serving 2Use the end of a wooden spoon or cocktail muddler to bash (or muddle) the mint into the lime juice and sugar. This releases the mint’s oils, breaks up the blueberries, and helps the sugar dissolve into the lime juice. 3Add the rum, stir well, and then pour into a glass filled with ice, leaving about an inch of room. 4Top with the club soda. 5Serve with extra blueberries, mint leaves, and a lime slice.
