How to Make No Bake Treats with Reese’s

The greatest part about these Rice Krispie treats?  No oven required! In fact, you don’t even need the stovetop. Everything, including the shiny chocolate glaze, is made in the microwave. (If you don’t have a microwave, you can totally make this on the stove, just take a peek at the recipe below). Start by stirring Rice Krispies, Kix cereal (which is bigger and crunchy) and quartered Reese’s cups. Melt marshmallows with butter in the microwave then pour over the cereal and candy. When everything is well mixed, pat into a baking dish. Set it aside for 20 to 30 minutes or until it sets. Next, comes my favorite part — the chocolate glaze. Add chocolate and butter to a bowl and microwave until melted. Stir in a little honey to make it glossy then pour it over the Rice Krispie treats. Scatter a bunch of salted peanuts on top — you know we can’t resist the sweet-salty combo. Then wait until the chocolate sets, about 30 minutes. Enjoy! Recipe updated, originally posted September 2012. Since posting this in 2012, we have tweaked the recipe to be more clear. – Adam and Joanne 1 (10-ounce) bag mini marshmallows (about 5 1/2 cups) 6 cups (180 grams) Rice Krispies or toasted rice cereal 2 cups (60 grams) Kix cereal or crispy corn puff cereal 12 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups 2 teaspoons honey 8 tablespoons (1 stick or 115 grams) butter 1/2 cup salted peanuts, chopped 2Cut each peanut butter cup into six pieces. In a bowl that is large enough to fit all of the cereal, stir cereals and the chopped peanut butter cups. 3Add butter and marshmallows to a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds. Use a spoon and stir the marshmallows. While they may not look melted, once you stir them they begin to turn molten. If some marshmallows are still solid, place the bowl back into the microwave for 10 seconds. Stir until smooth. If after 10 seconds they still have not all melted, repeat, in 10 second intervals, until they are – just remember to stir each time. Pour melted marshmallow over cereal and gently stir until well coated. 4Transfer mixture to baking dish and firmly press into one even layer. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and let sit, at room temperature for 30 minutes or until cooled and set. 2Add honey then vigorously stir the glaze until shiny.
