Season them simply with olive oil and sea salt, or try one of the seasoning suggestions in the blog post below.

How to Make Air Fryer Chickpeas

You need three simple ingredients to make this air fryer chickpeas recipe:

Ingredients

Chickpeas, of course! I almost always use canned ones for convenience. Extra-virgin olive oil – It helps the chickpeas brown and crisp up as they cook. And sea salt – To make the chickpeas’ nutty flavor pop.

Drying the chickpeas

When you’re ready to cook, drain and rinse the chickpeas. Then, spread them on a clean kitchen towel or paper towel, and pat them dry. It is very important that you dry the chickpeas before cooking. If you skip this step, they won’t crisp up in the air fryer. While you’re at it, remove any loose skins from the outsides of the chickpeas.

Roasting the chickpeas

Transfer the garbanzo beans to a medium bowl. Toss with the oil, salt, and pinches of your desired spices. Spread the chickpeas evenly in your air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F for 10 to 15 minutes, tossing halfway, or until crisp. Don’t hesitate to go longer if needed. The exact timing can vary based on your air fryer and the moisture content of your beans. Most air fryers can easily fit a (14-ounce) can of chickpeas in a single layer. But if you have a smaller air fryer, or if you’re cooking a scaled up version of this recipe, you may need to work in batches.

Storage Tips

Store air fried chickpeas in a loosely covered container at room temperature for up to 2 days. They can soften with time. To re-crisp them, cook them for a few minutes in a dry skillet over medium heat, or pop them back in the air fryer.
